New lookbook posted this week!
The welcome spring wardrobe!
Bought my first Hussein Chalayan piece today - a cotton black sundress that is uniquely cut and folded. Hussein is an up and coming British designer who has done interesting fashion shows with unique materials and a fresh avant-garde approach.
The dress came with the designer's tag that said the following: (I think it is so unique)
I love it! I did not go shopping today, I invested in the future! :)
this garment can be considered as a piece of future archeology, a container of subjectively edited information contemporary to its making. you are invited to leave a trace of your ownership by signing the brand label.
And I want to be wearing Dries Van Noten.
I checked out the spring arrivals today at Bon Marché (just looking! no buying!! ok, a few smmmmaaaaallll purchases...), Dries Van Noten has the most interesting collection of clothes available right now. Runner-up goes to Kenzo. My opinion!

The Fall/ Winter 2008 RTW shows concluded here in Paris this past Sunday. As usual, Style.com is the source for all the information on each show. This season the site also added videos of key shows - a great addition. And do not neglect the Sartorialist, who captures street fashion in the cities. Unfortunately this year his pictures were a bit too focused on the editors attending the events instead of the regular folk, but still it is an awesome portfolio.
This year I have decided to publish my lookbook collecting the silhouettes that most captured my imagination and thrilled my senses. The overall theme for me? Warrior princess well armored to fight and stomp her way through this world... Check it: My Lookbook!
Interesting exhibition currently on at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris titled The Third Mind (from a book by William S. Burroughs). Many artists from the Beat generation were represented. Last night there was a French recitation of Ginsberg's Howl. The above is a snapshot of one of the best pieces: Andy Warhol Screen Tests, three-minute films of people's faces filmed until the reel ran out then slowed down (including Edi Sedgwick, Nico, Lou Reed and Marcel Duchamp). Also enjoyed the selection of Joe Brainard works, and Bruce Connor's ethereal "angel" light pictures.
I spent Sunday afternoon in the beautifully maintained apartments of the famous Parisian courtesans from la belle époque. Maxim's is a museum (and restaurant) on Rue Royale owned by Pierre Cardin. It has over 550 art nouveau masterpieces from all over the world created by Majorelle, Tiffany, Gallé, Massier... Beautiful!
Viendra au secours de la peine d'autrui celui qui souffre lui-même.
Taken by Plastic Dragon. I have not seen such amicable embraces on the streets of my neighborhood, perhaps because, as the Parisians tell me, I live in one of the "more elegant" arrondisement...
